YSL Y Live Review
Main Post:
Finally tested this new, and low rated release today. Here's my thought after a day of testing:
Scent-wise this is the best of the Y line. Better than both the EDT and EDP. But that's not saying much considering that Y is essentially YSL's sad attempt at doing their own Bleu de Chanel.
In fact this is the only reason why Y Live smells better than the other 2 version. Because it actually derivatives (although only slightly) from the "blue DNA".
The opening is all too similar to the EDP. The only difference being that this doesn't have the savory green apple note of Y EDP. Which to be honest, doesn't amount to anything practical since they both smell the same in the air.
The dry down of Y EDP was dreadful. And I mean DREADFUL. It was literally a run of the mill blue dry down that you would expect from an avergae "cool" or "sport" celebrity fragrance. Not a brand with the status of Yves Saint Laurent.
Thankfully Y Live fixes that and the dry down smells sweeter and slightly greener thanks to the ginger and cade.
So with everything said, is Y Live worth purchasing ? The answer is a big fat NO
Why ? Because it can't perform to save it's life. It turns into a skin scent almost immediately and lasts between 3-5 hours.
All in all, I think if this was the first fragrance released in the Y line. It would've been a much bigger success. Because unlike it's two predecessors, it doesn't try jump on the ambroxan and blue DNA bandwagon. It takes those DNAs and adds a nice and unique spin to it to offer something different in the competition with some saccharin sweetness and some green vibes. Performance could've always been fixed later with an EDP version.
But the ambroxan and blue DNA hype is dying and YSL released this fragrance too late.
Top Comment: I still don't understand Y EDP being classified as the archetypal blue-fragrance or as being "dreadful", after trying BDC (all variants), Sauvage (all variants), King, etc, it's the only one I've found that has any true, discernible character in the dry down with the sage, apple and juniper. My wife loves it and it's one of the few fragrances I've received "multiple compliments" on, as corny as that is. You can hate it, but pretending it isn't it's own sage-heavy beast is silly.
YLive surveys
Main Post:
Is this worth the effort? I did the first survey for £4 which was easy enough but how often do they come? With a £50 minimum withdraw this is going to take ages at this rate.
Top Comment: It’s definitely a grind. Surveys often few and far between. Quite often have screen outs aswell after you have spent time filling in the first part of the survey details. Personally I am close to the £50 threshold so going to continue until I can cash out but I won’t be continuing after that.
Y-Live payout for this month?
Main Post:
Anyone else not gotten paid their 50 quid for this month? We should be getting it by now since it's the middle of the month right?
Top Comment: Yeah me neither, my last payout was on a 15th of the month though so will probably be soon.

Ylive screening out
Main Post:
Anyone else finding Ylive screen them out more often these days? Was rarely being screened out last year but in the last few months I’m lucky if I get into 25% of their surveys. Swings and roundabouts, I guess, as I’m getting more Yougov surveys this year.
Top Comment: I’d say I get screened from 10% or less of their surveys. I keep my demographic answers consistent, which is easy as I give real information. I find they pay well enough to warrant that, rather than some of the sites that want me to complete a 40 minute survey and give all of my details for 17p
Anyone received £ from ylive this month?
Main Post:
Reached the £50 threshold mid of August. Money should long arrived yet still nothing today.
Is it just me or they are having problem?
Top Comment:
Someone posted an update they’d had from them regarding the delayed payments this month...

PopulusLive/Y-Live - attention checks question
Main Post:
I've been using Populus or Y-Live as it's now known, for probably about 6 months, in that time I've had a few payouts and completed over a hundred surveys and it's been great.
A couple of weeks ago, for the first time, I accidentally made a mistake on an attention check, and now I've not had another survey since.
Do they really operate on a one strike and you're out rule?
Has anyone else failed an attention check with them before and been able to resume surveys?
Thanks in advance.
Top Comment:
No, you will still get them, I have had 1 question in the last week or so, they are likely having a slow period of surveys.
Is Y live down?
Main Post:
I haven't got any surveys from Y live (formerly populuslive) since mid February, before that I steadily make about £30-40 per month. Has anyone experienced the same issue?
Top Comment:
i've had plenty of surveys over the past month, around 20 or so. last 2 came in 2-3 days ago
Ysl Y Live - disappointment.
Main Post:
Why live. Honestly I had heard the play on the name multiple times but always laughed it off as a silly frag community thing. But I had heard that it was different than the EDP and the previous EDT. And slotted as a good compromise from the over freshness of Eau Fraiche. Anyway I decided to get a 10 ml decant and boy what a disappointment. On first impression, right off the bat I thought to myself, I have smelt this before. Turns out. It smells exactly like my Walmart brand hand soap. Couldn’t perform to save its life. Had to be reapplied during the day. It did however having some redemption in the dry down with the basenotes of sage and juniper. Overall. I regret buying it. Should’ve gone for Eau Fraiche. Luckily only got 10 ml so will be able to go thru it quickly
Top Comment:
I think Eau Frachie has the best opening while the EDP has the best drydown.
